On 08th August 2017 the Shadi Shagun Yojana was launched under the Pradhan Mantri Shadi Shagun Yojana in which a Muslim girl is given Rs 51000/ when she marries after her graduation (BA, BSc, BCom, BE etc.). Minority girls get Rs 10000 a year in class IX and class X, and, Rs 12000 a year for class XI and class XII. Finer details are available at https://www.pradhanmantriyojana.co.in/shaadi-shadi-shagun-scheme-registration/ and at the website of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs (www.minorityaffairs.gov.in). It is understood that income of parents of Muslim girls should not be more that Rs 200000 per annum. Similarly placed Hindu girls who did not get similar amounts and desire to get similar amounts may register with this Foundation so that the Foundation may take up this issue on their behalf with the appropriate authorities.
Similarly placed Hindu girls who were not paid such amounts earlier should be paid arrears. It is reported that stipend of Rs 10000 per annum to Muslim girls was first introduced by the Vajpayee government in 2003. Details of other schemes for non-Hindu girls are available at https://www.maef.nic.in/begum-hazrat-mahal-national-scholarship-scheme.
